ROUND 1 GAME OF THE WEEK

vs

These two teams and owners absolutely despise each other. Probably the best rivarly in all CTL. 15 career regular season matchups(10-5 in favor of TSBGOD), and one playoff defeat at the hands of the Patriots mastermind. That was five seasons ago back in 97, when the Patriots had future CTL hall of famer in QB Steve Young. The hottest team in the league probably with the only exception of being the defending three time champion, the Steelers won 10 games last season and 11 games this season. This is their first ever division title however, as 10 wins just got them a wild card last season. It's put up or shut up time for the Steel curtain. These two teams split the head to head matchup in the regular season. Pittsburgh taking week two, 28-17. New England taking week 10, 31-14. Pittsburgh had the #1 ranked offense in the league, averaging 290 yards per game. New England came in 5th, a hair under 260. Pittsburgh had the #6 ranked defense, 217 yards given up, while New England tallied 204, 4th place. I've said it all season long, the Steelers will go as far as QB Chad Pennington takes them. Pennington finished the season in 3rd place with a 130.9 passer rating. If he can stay away from S Reggie Tongue of the Patriots, I think Pittsburgh can win this one in front of the home crowd. A few turnovers, they are doomed. bigflu is playing good ball lately, and Vegas has then as a 4 1/2 point favorite.

I'll go with Vegas, Steelers 28-21.

WEEK 13 GAME OF THE WEEK

vs

Week 13 brings us two teams who have already clinched their playoff spot from the Traditional Division. Going into this game it appears San Diego has clinched the #4 seed while the Niners have at least got the #2 seed and possible #1 seed. If San Fran wins here, and the Titans fall somewhere during the rest of the season, these two teams could meet for a 3rd time....in the first round of the playoffs. In the week five matchup between the two squads, the road team Niners put a pounding on the bolts. To the tune of a 31-0 thrashing. Chargers QB Burris was only 3 for 14 in that first game and threw an interception. His counterpart, Rich Gannon was 7 of 11 and tossed 2 TD passes. On paper, and probably in skill Regulator has the better team, so looking and going by the first game, you have to think the home team Niners take this one easily.

Niners 21-7.

WEEK 12 GAME OF THE WEEK

vs

Miami and Dallas dance in week 12. Normally I do not like picking the same team for back to back game of the week matchups, but since almost everyone has already played week 12, I had to. This has playoff implications so it should be a juicy one. This will be the first time ever these two combatants will square off on the 8-bit gridiron. DynastyDEgeorge is 3-3 since returning to the CTL with the fish, and JesusLuvsme4ever is sitting currently at 5-2 a top the division. Miami is sitting at 4-4 entering the ball game. A loss would almost assure Miami of watching the post season on their computer screens at home. A win puts them right back in the thick of things. On paper, both teams are pretty evenly matched and this should be a great game. Can Miami stop the 4th highest scoring offense in the league(24.7 points per game)? If the game turns into a shootout, I just don't see Miami able to pulling it out. A low scoring, field possession type game might favor the fish. At least Miami has home field advantage going for them. I just feel Dallas might have too much riding on this game to let down and pull it out in the fourth quarter on the back of RB Shaun Alexander.

Dallas 24-20.

WEEK 11 GAME OF THE WEEK

vs

Week 11 probably decides who wins the Traditional division. Both the Dallas Cowboys and New York Jets enter the ball game sitting with matching 5-2 records. Dallas currently owns the tiebreaker, as they won the first game, a 31-21 week three thriller. New York wins this game, odds are they grab the #2 seed with an outside chance at taking home field. Dallas wins, and its almost completely wrapped up owning the tiebreaker outright basically putting New York 2 games behind them. In dissecting the first matchup, one thing stood out to me. How Dallas was able to move the ball through the air against the Jets. TE Jeremy Shocky had 196 yards on four receptions. That's a big bonus. For Dallas to win this game, I feel RB Shaun Alexander must play a bigger part, then his minimal 37 yards and 3.4 avg in the first meeting. Jets QB Brett Favre turned the ball over in week three, and possibly cost his team the game. Favre must play mistake free football, with the heavy dose of the ground game to keep his offense on the field. Expect to see RB James Stewart top the 100 yard mark this week, and pound the Cowboys into submission. Things tighten up in the division as New York wins.

Jets 27-14.

WEEK 10 GAME OF THE WEEK

vs

Week 10 has the Vikings playing host to the Titans. Tennessee usually has the division wrapped up by this week. This is different for them, sitting in 2nd place going into week 10. Reason they are in 2nd place, is their 17-3 loss in week two to these same Vikings. In the game QB Mark Brunell played horribly. Tossing two interceptions, both to Vikings S Brock Marion. After the initial three points in the first quarter, the Vikings put the clamps down and didn't let the Titans score again. The Vikings are for real and enter the ball game with a 7-1 record. A win here all but assures themselves a playoff spot, and more than likely a division championship. The early Vegas odds has the Vikings as 6 point favorites. WR Joe Horn could not be stopped as he topped the 100 yard mark with 5 catches in the week two game. I think this one will be a lot closer, and the turnover bug won't bite the Titans as hard. I talked to ESPN analyst Hammering Hank, and he drooled at the spread. Definitely going with the Titans.

Titans 20-10.

WEEK 9 GAME OF THE WEEK

vs

Week nine has the G-Men hosting the Pittsburgh Steelers. New York enters the ball game sitting at 3-1. Pittsburgh comes in as the only undefeated team left in the league, 5-0. Pittsburgh has opened some eyes with their play. They are led most definitely by QB Chad Pennington. Pennington is the league's leading passer, 145.8 passer rating. 10 TDs and zero picks helps inflate both that rating number and the standings. New York has got where they are with how they normally do in the big apple under Eifer. Stellar QB play and havoc from the LB spot. LB Eric Barton leads the league in QB sacks. His nine tackle, six sack game that he had in week six also helps that number. Leading the league in sacks, with only four games played is pretty impressive. Where the Giants will be in trouble. The high PC/REC combination from the steel curtain. Only one New York defender has an INT rating of 50. Everything else is below. CCs here we come.

Pittsburgh grabs a stranglehold on first place in the division, 31-14.

WEEK 8 GAME OF THE WEEK

vs

Week eight has the big boys dancing with each other. San Francisco 49ers (8-1) host the Minnesota Vikings (7-1). Both teams mirror each other. They are both led by probably #1 and #2 in MVP voting with 49ers QB Rich Gannon, Vikings QB Brian Griese. Both are neck and neck for 3rd in the league in passer rating. A tenth of a decimal point separates them. Gannon has a sick 8.3 TD:INT ratio, but try on Griese's 37 TDs to two picks. Both interceptions coming in a week three loss to the Chargers. Griese's stoutly numbers may hold the key, but do not forget about RB Eddie George. George ranks third in the league in rushing with his 617 yards. We also have the two highest scoring teams in the league. Minnesota(34.1ppg), and San Fran(27.3). The #1 rated defense Minnesota(8.6ppg) and the #3 rated defense(11.1). Slugfest and something has to give. It will be a barnburner and slobber knocker to quote my boy Jim Ross from wrasslin. My pick is the same with all close games, the one who turns the ball over less, will win the game. Griese throws an errant pass, into the waiting hands of CB Bryan Kelly for the Niners early in the 2nd quarter. Edgerrin James pounds the rock for the boys from the bay and puts his squad up two scores and its too much for the Vikes to come back and win.

Niners 27-20.

WEEK 7 GAME OF THE WEEK

vs

Week seven has the Colts hosting the New York Football Jets. Tecmopsycho has never beating discdolo in the CTL. His 0-3 mark puts a sour taste in the mouth of the hoosierian. If any time was good enough to get on track, it's this season. Psycho has probably his most talented team he's ever had. Unfortunately for the Colts, they enter the ball game at 1-2. Everyone knows Psycho loves to run the football. Everyone also knows dolo is probably the best run defender playing. Dolo's uncanny ability to shut down your running game with his LB2 patrol is amazing. Rock versus a hard place. Something has to give. Colts RB Corey Dillon comes into the ball game in 4th place currently in rushing with a total of 324 yards. 55 carries is a workload for 3 ball games for a tecmo RB. When it comes to playing discdolo you have to be very patient. I've said for a long time now, that he's probably the most patient tecmo player going. Never ever gets frustrated in the pocket and always finds the open man, or the 5 yard QB scramble. This is so clear when you look at the Jets QB Brett Favre. Favre and his 7:1 TD:INT ratio is amazing. Considering Favre has less than normal mobility now late in his career(6ms) and less than an accurate arm(50pc). New York will be a tough out if Indy wants to get its season back on track. Having said that, the home field advantage in the RCA dome will be too much to overcome and real life Colt, Kerry Collins leads his team to a 4th quarter victory, game sealing drive.

Colts 27-20.

WEEK 6 GAME OF THE WEEK

vs

The Titans travel to San Diego for this week six game of the week. Not far from Canes' mind is the 2000 defeat at the hand of these same super chargers. The only blemish on the Titans resume over a three year time span. Did I mention the Chargers dominated the 2nd half and outscored the Titans to win a game 35-28. San Diego outscored Tennessee 28 zip in the 3rd and 4th periods and stole the W. I'm going to say the Titans will be ready for this matchup. Tennessee comes into the game sitting at 3-1. San Diego at 4-2. San Diego QB Henry Burris is probably the best off season pickup so far. Burris has horrible ratings, 38 pc. Yet a great 11:2 TD:INT ratio with a 111.2 passer rating. This definitely has taken the heat off of RB Priest Holmes as teams try to stack the box against the 63 MS back. If Burris can keep up the stellar play, they can steal one at home. Expect to see a good game in San Diego, with the good guys coming out on top.

Titans 24-13.

WEEK 5 GAME OF THE WEEK

vs

In week five, the Steelers travel to the Meadowlands to play against the hated Jets. Over the course of each owners career they have faired very
well versus the other. Discdolo holds a four games to three edge over bigflu and vegas has his Jets as a 2.5 point favorite. New York enters play
sitting at 2-1 on the season, while Pittsburgh has just one game in, and they won that ball game. New York's lack of INT power might hurt them
when playing Pitt. QB Chad Pennington has a CC 69 PC rating and will take advantage of it with the weak secondary New York sports. New
York will have to rely heavily on the old man, QB Brett Favre to keep the offense on the field and Mr. Pennington on the sidelines. I will take the safe bet and the ever steady solid play of discdolo.

Jets 17-14 in OT.

WEEK 4 GAME OF THE WEEK

vs

In week four Dallas plays host to the fighting fish from Miami. Dallas enters at 3-0, and Miami comes in at 1-1. Jesusluvsme4ever and TecmoRules have split the head to head battle in their ctl careers, each winning one game. To the shock of many, including myself, Dallas has been very successful this year thanks to QB Trent Green. Green has a perfect passer rating of 158.3 and of course leads the league in that category. Peterson has always been a good player, but turns the ball over too much to have some real success. Green keeping his offense on the field has led to the three early season wins. If you ask TSBGOD, Miami should really be 0-2. After a stunning comeback where the fish scored the last 16 points in the fourth quarter to stun the Patriots, the Dolphins laid an egg scoring 0 offensive points. Only netting 5 on the scoreboard against the division rival Jets. Will trends continue? Will Green and Dallas roll on and take a firm grasp of the division? Will Miami keep sputtering with a very talented team? All things come to an end, and Miami walks into Big D and takes the ball game.

Dolphins 24-13.

WEEK 3 GAME OF THE WEEK

vs

I've gotten behind, but thankfully this week three matchup hadn't been played yet. So I will pick this one as our game of the week. We have the Baltimore Ravens who sit at 0-1 versus the San Fran 49ers who come in undefeated and 4-0. Based on that statistical analysis the easy pick here is the niners. To quote the old coach Lee Corso "not so fast my friends." Lets dive into this match and pick it with a fine tooth comb. On paper Baltimore has the team to compete with the boys from the bay if not even beat them. I don't think anyone would argue that regulator is probably the better player, but we all know this is tecmo, and anything can happen. The key breakdown is how Ravens QB Daunte Culpepper and his 44 pc rating, can avoid the niners CB Brian Kelly and his 75 int rating. Anything near Kelly will be auto picked and one of the most overlooked aspects of tecmo, is turnovers. It's hard enough to stop players on drives as is, so if you can force a stop with a pick or fumble it helps matters so greatly. Can the Ravens contain 49ers QB Rich "Cannon" Gannon? On the season Gannon has a 12:1 TD:INT ratio. Passer rating of 136.1. Baltimore will play smart and run run run the ball, and move the chains. I just don't feel too confident in their ability to stop Gannon, even with stud S Darren Sharper. San Fran takes over in the 2nd half with Baltimore having to play catch up.

Niners 24-7.

WEEK 2 GAME OF THE WEEK

vs

Week two has the Steelers hosting the hated Patriots. There is no love lost between these two owners. Bigflu and TSBGOD do not like each other on the 8 bit field. TSBGOD holds the regular season advantage of nine wins to four wins for bigflu. Having said that, the Patriots were swept by their division rival last season. Steelers taking both games, 16-10 and 31-21. New England got the last laugh however, as they made it to the championship game, while Pittsburgh watched on TV after an early first round exit. Neither squad has played their first week matchup so both enter the game with a clean slate. Pittsburgh might use a little ole New England magic this season. With a stud QB in Chad Pennington and his 69 PC, you might see a lot of, you go deep, and ill throw it to you backyard football mentality drawn up in the dirt. With an average INT seconday with New England, this might work. However the back safeties of the Patriots could nab a pick or two. My suggestion is to use Pennington as a decoy, and gash the Patriots with McAllister their RB(56ms). TSBGOD is notorious for calling run though, so we shall see if this strategy is played out. Previously mentioned Patriots strategy is to air it out. This season I look for the ground game to dictate the pace of the offense. With a mobile QB and a strong and fast RB. Travis Henry(56ms) will pound away at the Steelers defense and wear them down. Breaking a long touchdown run in the 3rd quarter that puts the Steelers behind by 10 points. Trailing late in the 4th quarter, Pennington makes a mistake and throws to the deep center where Mike Minter from the Pats is waiting. Game sealing interception.

Patriots 24-14.

WEEK 1 GAME OF THE WEEK

vs

In week one we have the San Diego Charges hosting the Baltimore Ravens. Some say this could be for the wild card spot from this division, as vegas odds makers have Regulator as the favorite to win the division at 4:1 odds. Baltimore comes into the 2002 campaign loaded at every position. Culpepper is the captain but maybe his 44 pc might hurt him, if he tries to air it out to his stud wide outs. Sharper will man the secondary and get a few interceptions this season. San Diego had a rocky offseason losing QB Michael Vick to a dog fighting ring. So they made a few trades and are set with Henry Burris at QB? Who the f*** is that? All I can say, is Priest Holmes with his 63 ms will get a load of carries this season. Possibly breaking the single season record. Defensively they have a good INT DB in parrish but nothing else really sticks out. On paper Baltimore dwarfs the Chargers in terms of talent, but thats why they call it tecmo where 80 yard JJs are the norm, and fumbles occur at very bad times.

Ill take the safe pick and take the Ravens, 24-10.
