1997 Superbowl

Video

vs

New England versus San Diego. 2 of the elite players in the CTL battle it out for who is the best for this season. TSBGOD still has a bitter taste after last season's superbowl loss on the last play of the game. Who did New England lose to? Miami, the team that San Diego defeated to reach the big dance. TSBGOD has been quoted on several instances, "to beat the 513, you need to stop the run and its over essentially." I have news for TSBGOD, Lefty is a great all around player. Even stopping the run will not be easy, as Eddie George is primed and ready for a big game. Charger safety Daryl Williams(FROM the U) is salivating at watching game film FROM Steve Young. Young has been known to throw into coverage to stretch the field. A big no no with all time single season CTL interception leader playing centerfield for San Diego. "He better tuck it and run, and not just pray to the tecmo gods," Williams said. It will be an epic tilt between two powerhouse owners. Both players usually are in the top in terms of wins in virtually every league they play in. Both have numerous rings. Both have to use 2 hands to put the rings on their fingers, and maybe even more. To the game, I see QB Steve Young struggling to complete passes as the Chargers will lock down any running game and force everything to be on the shoulders of the QB. San Diego will be a bit more balanced, but be anchored still by the legs of their powerhouse back, George. A crucial 2nd quarter turnover will be too much for New England to overcome, as San Diego turns it into points and produces a 2 score advantage before the half. Playing catch-up mode in the 2nd half, just leads to another turnover and that will be all she wrote. My pick for MVP will be RB Eddie George as he wants to prove that beating the 513, even stopping the run is a hard feat.
San Diego 28-14.

Round 2 of the Playoffs

vs

Video

The Patriots are hosting their 2nd straight championship game in Foxboro this week. After squeaking by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round,10-7, the Patriots are hoping to get back on track this week versus the Bengals FROM the Nasty Nati. Ahake brings his roided up offense on the road to shock the world. If Aaron can play like he did last week in a 40-14 thumping of MR T and his Cardinals. Would have been an awesome playoff showdown for MR T and his aliases TSBGOD, but this game will be a war as well. Everyone knows that the Bengals chances are based on how many points they can put up. The defense is non existent in terms of superstars. Usually this late into the dance, you must have a standout, but nevertheless the Bengals are here. The odds makers have the Bengals as 10 point underdogs. This is tecmo however and anything can happen. Can Patriots QB Steve Young have another off day? Can the Bengals put up 40 points on the Patriots defense? Neither is likely. So with that being said, I will take the favorites. Patriots go to the dance yet again.
Patriots win 35 - 21.

San Diego travels across country to play the fighting fish in Joe Robbie Stadium. Miami won the first meeting between the two clubs in week 4. That day Miami had to travel across country and was able to win 28-17. In that game Charger QB John Elway was off target. Tossing 2 picks ultimately is what did San Diego in. The Chargers and lefty's playing style is the pound the rock, something they were effective in this previous meeting. Reigning rookie of the Year, Eddie George, went for 116 on 9 carries and hit pay dirt once. Maybe that was in mop up duty with the game out of reach, I do not know. In any case, the key to San Diego winning this road battle will be to LIMIT the pass attempts and run right at FS Leroy Butler. Butler has a chip on his shoulder after knocking out the season leader in rushing yards a week ago. "Terrell is a good player, but I had to do what I had to do. You guys saw it, they couldn't move the ball with out TD. Eddie, watch out." Some smack talk FROM Butler, but in the end, the little 8 bit Nintendo guys control the fate on the outcome. The winner gets a shot at the Super Bowl. Both owners have 1 CTL ring on their finger, with Miami being the defending champions. These 2, I would bet have played each other the most ever in title games, just something I see browsing the boards. This one is for a shot at the dance.

San Diego rolls 31 - 17.

Round 1 of the Playoffs

vs

The Patriots host the Steelers in this playoff showdown. The Patriots outscored their opponents 59 to 14 in their 2 matchups. Pretty one sided affairs with the Steelers squeaking out a touchdown in each. Patriot FS Tyrone Braxton owes 5 of his picks in his career season(16 ints) to the Steelers signal caller. 2 at the hands of QB Jeff George and 4 at the hands of backup Gus Frerotte. Giving the Patriots 5 extra possessions will not help matters. For the Steelers to pull the biggest upset of the 1st round, they must LIMIT and/or win the turnover battle. With a pair for 44 MS backs, Pittsburgh was overlooked this season. Most thought middle of the pack type team, but they have produced and made it the playoffs. Their playoffs actually started last week in an intense divisional game with the Jets. For those who haven't seen the finish, worth checking out. Jamal Anderson is a hero in Pittsburgh with his coverage catch in the end zone as the gun went off. A dramatic finish, one wonders how much gas the Steelers have left in the tank. It is a true matchup of David versus Goliath. The Vegas betters have the Steelers as a 14 point dog in this one. All around I do not see how Pittsburgh can win this one. Too much firepower FROM the Patriots. Although, we all know the difficulty in beating the same team 3 times in one season. Steve Young has a great day throwing for 4 TDs, a few in Rod Woodson's grill.
Patriots win 28 - 10.

Cardinals travel to Cincinnati. Weather forecast for game time is in the low 20s, with heavy snow showers. Game time temperature in sunny Arizona, 75. Will the cold weather effect the birds FROM the south? Most birds travel down south for the winter, not head back up north. MRTECMOSUPERBOWL hasn't got his wish yet. He wants TSBGOD in the playoffs. If New England wins, and the Cards can stop the juggernaut offense of the Bengals, he will get his wish. MRTECMOSUPERBOWL might have bit himself in the ass already, putting a title in his signature on the Tecmoworld boards. Just calling for bad things to come your way. The Bengals swept the season series with the Cardinals, however their week 11 matchup went into an extra period.  Bengal LB Randall Godfrey received defensive player of the week honors for his roll in the win. Godfrey recorded 5 tackles, 1 sack and 1 interception. Arizona QB Erik Kramer completed 7 passes on the day. Unfortunately, for Cardinal fans, more than half(4) were to be Bengals. On his 3 completions he did make the most of them, all 3 went for scores on 136 yards passing. If Arizona wants to pull the upset, Kramer better bring his "A" game. Bengal star RB Jerome Bettis wasn't a big factor in this game. Bettis hobbled off with a hamstring injury after only 6 carries. I believe Bettis will have fresh legs for this game, and go crazy going for over 200 total yards and runs wild on the 'Zona defense in a blowout sealing his team in the conference championship.
Bengals win 21 - 10.

vs

The Giants and Chargers square off for the third time this season. Each squad coming away with a win. The only blemish on the Giants season, came at the hands of these very chargers in week 1. A 17-14 nail biter that came down to the wire. All pro RB Barry Sanders did have 145 yards and a score on the ground. That wasn't the issue. It was QB Brad Johnson's accuracy. 3 Interceptions killed drives for the Giants and swung the momentum hugely in the favor of the Chargers. QB John Elway for the Chargers was his potent self. Elways day: 7-10 passing, for 200 yards and 1 TD. Mistake free football is what is needed again to dethrone the number 1 seeded Giants. In week 9, it was a different story however. Chargers flopped in that meeting, losing 13-19. How exactly they lost is misleading looking at the stats. Going into the game, if I was to say the Giants RB Barry Sanders would only have 37 yards on 8 carries, the betting man would say the Giants most surely lost. Throw into the fact that the Chargers also won the Int battle as again Elway threw 0, and Johnson 1 this time. Johnson only completed 2 passes, 1 being a long 72 yard TD strike to WR Derrick Alexander. How they won, I do not know, but that's tecmo for you. Half the time, the team with better stats, usually loses somehow. Onto the pick. They split in the regular season, and Lefty has been playing a little less with his new found interest in his Xbox 360. Eifer however has been on vacation/work trip, so he as well hasn't played as much. I see RB Eddie George toting the rock at least 20 times and pounding away at the Giants defense. Wearing them down, and in the 4th quarter his monster run of 30 yards to pay dirt puts the Home seeded Giants away at the dismay of the Meadowlands faithful in East Rutherford New Jersey.
Chargers win 24-14.

vs

Video

Just like the Giants/Chargers, these two clubs will meet for the third time this season. The Oilers taken both games, 14-13, and 14-0. Looking at the first contest, it was a very evenly matched game. The Oilers were able to keep the Phins out of the end zone twice when it really counted, making them settle for field goal attempts. In the end that was enough. As I recall late in the game, the Dolphins were up 13-7 but decided to kick it short in hopes of getting the ball back with enough time to go down and score in the event of their defense letting the Oilers into the zone again. Miami did allow the TD, but Kordell "Slash" Stewart wasn't able to get his unit into field goal range before the final whistle. Again the Vegas betters wouldn't have given the game to the Oilers looking at RB Terrell Davis stat line. 39 yards on 8 carries. Horrible numbers when compared to his season total of 1750 and 4th all time in league history. Miami RB Ricky Watters didn't fair too much better, only amounting 34 yards on 7 carries. In the week 9 shutout the Dolphins managed to hold the Oilers offense to 1 completion total. A whopping 5 yards passing was still enough to win the ball game for them. You think TD had a massive game? Yet again, a lackluster performance going for 41 yards on 8 carries. Both touchdowns came via the QB scramble. One for each of the Oiler signal callers, QBs Jim Harbaugh, and Steve McNair. Slash Stewart was more active in this game launching the rock 17 times and calling his own number 7 times for 31 yards. Unfortunately, 2 picks did the Dolphins in. We all know the odds are against a team beating the same team 3 times in one season. But I say screw the odds and will pick me to advance.
Oilers 28 - 14.

Week 13 Game of the Week

vs

Video

Without a doubt the best game of the year. Not only does this game involve the 2 #1 seeds in the playoffs. Both teams are 11-1. Both teams have home field advantage...as of right now. Its possible the loser of
this game loses their #1 spot in their conference and home field advantage. The Oilers right behind the Giants, and the Bengals pushing the Patriots. This is also a rematch FROM the 1993 superbowl. A game in
which the New York Giants came into the game a perfect 15-0. The Patriots repaid the favor FROM the 2007 season WHERE the roles were reversed. The Patriots dominated the game and the score 24-9. This is a
new season. New faces. New leaders. Which superstar future CTL Hall of Famer will lead his team to victory and on a role heading into the playoffs. Will it be New England QB Steve Young and his amazing
accuracy and wheels, or will it be New York RB Barry Sanders and his elusiveness and dominating speed? Whichever superstar has a better game, that team will win. The way I see it, I believe New England will
be able to contain Barry Sanders and force QB Brad Johnson to step his game up. Barry will go into bad, which will render him less effective and Eifer will have to turn to his signal caller. Johnson has a good skill set, but waiting in center field is the favorite to win the Defensive MVP, Tyrone Braxton. Braxton has 14
picks at the time of this press release and is shooting for the single season record of 16 held by two current CTL members. TSBGOD obtained 16 in 1993 and Opus obtained 16 in 1996, both who used Eugene
Robinson to achieve this. Braxton will be salivating on any 3rd and long situations and will come up with 2 big picks to break the single season record and catapult his Patriots into the playoffs with authority.
Patriots win 28 - 17.

Week 12 Game of the Week

vs

Video

Usually we have 2 teams FROM each division advance to the playoffs. The division winner and a wild card. It appears that the Bengals have this division wrapped up. But up for grabs is that last wild card spot for the King Kong Conference. Having tiebreakers is huge in the seeding of the playoffs. Baltimore is already down 1 game to the Cardinals. In reality its actually 2 games since they lost their week 4 matchup, 17-14. In that game both defenses were stout allowing no ground games to break stride. Making it a gun slinger duel. One of which Cardinal QB, Erik Kramer, won. I think Baltimore has learned its lesson, and will grind out the 3 yards a carry game and frustrate the Zona coach. Raven RB, Raymont Harris, will tally over 20 carries and not have many yards, but he will keep the sticks moving and be able to find pay dirt twice. Again another defensive battle, but the Ravens will be able to split the season series with a much needed victory on the road.
Ravens 17- 10.

Week 11 Game of the Week

vs

Video

These 2 squads had a nail biter in week 3. A game in which the division leading Bengals came out on top. This game may or may not be any different. One thing is for sure though, Arizona must win this game to have any shot at catching the Bengals for the division. The Cardinals only allowed 2 first downs all day in that week 3 matchup, but all 3 touchdowns to lose 21-17. Bengal QB, Drew Bledsoe, only completed 2 passes all game, but both were for TDs, netting 132 yards. I see Bledsoe being the difference maker again in this matchup. As the Zona front peeks into the backfield to shut down bruising running back Jerome Bettis. Bledsoe will be able to pick apart the single coverage on the outside. His pair of Wrs should have field days and be able to move the chains more consitantly. Zona keeps it close, but just not enough fire power to keep up with the high octane offense that the Bengals produce.
Bengals 28-24.

Week 10 Game of the Week

vs

New England has made Pittsburgh their bitch in recent memory. Last season a side wager was on the line between the two owners to see how good New England was going to be. The pats prevailed with flying colors only losing 1 game until the title match up. New England who is 6-1 virtually wraps up the division with a win versus division foe Pittsburgh(4-2). The Steelers can make this division race very interesting with an upset on the road in Foxboro this week. Pittsburgh has surprised me honestly so far this season, but there are 2 halves of seasons. The first half, and the money half, WHERE you must bring your A game and seal your playoff spot. It's put up or shut up for the Steelers. If they want to show they belong with the big boys and their fast start isn't a fluke, they must find a way to defeat the powerhouse Patriots. New England shut out the Steelers on the ground holding them to 0 rushing yards, and 66 total yards of offense. Those stats lead to the lopsided win of 28-7. This game will be closer, but New England just has too much. Even when the Pats have been in trouble, QB Steve Young has bailed them out. Young might need to pull some magic again, but I'll go with the safe pick of the Patriots.
Patriots win 31 - 14.

Week 9 Game of the Week

vs

Video

A rematch of a nail biting week 1 game. The Oilers were able to lead a late fourth quarter drive behind captain comeback, QB Jim Harbaugh. Both running games were neutralized in the first meeting, so I expect both teams to try to establish the run more to open up the passing game. Both quarterbacks scramble often in week 1 not wanting to force a turnover and risk their team the game. This is for the first place in the division, and if Miami wants any chance of repeating as division champs, this is a must win game. Already sitting 1 game behind the Oilers, and on the lower side of the tiebreaker, 2 games out, virtually 3 if tiebreaker is lost means Miami will be shooting for a wild card. Again a great game, but Tennessee just has too many weapons I feel.  The Oilers battle one out at Joe Robbie Stadium and sweep the season series.
Oilers 24 - 17.

Week 8 Game of the Week

vs

Video

In this battle we have to top contenders out of the King Kong Conference. The 3-3 New York Jets, led by coach discolo, and the 3-3 Washington Redskins, led by coach Drza. Both squads sitting at 3-3 have cooled off quickly. Both got out of gates fast to a 3-1 start, however they have hit a 2 game slide. Whoever avoids a 3rd straight loss will still have a shot at the playoffs. The loser, well they better start doing their research for next season's rookie draft. On paper I believe the Jets are all around a better ball club and that's why I'm giving them the nod. RB Curtis Martin pounds the rock at the Skins weak front 7 and controls the field and time of possession. Washington will have little time to do anything on offense and when they do, an errant throw by QB Jeff Blake will be the difference maker as he gets picked off in the 3rd quarter.
New York going away 31-17.

Week 7 Game of the Week

vs

Week 7 has Washington playing host to the Chicago Bears. Washington and Drza have surprised a few. Knocking off some tough opponents, the boys FROM D.C. are making their playoff push, perhaps 1 season before many, including myself, anticipated. Sitting at 3-1, Washington is leading the Traditional Division. Chicago on the other hand has been slackish. With only 1 game in, Chicago doesn't really hit our radar and we can't speculate on how they will do. More games will have to come in fast for sowa, or he will be replaced. Right now I will just base my prediction on talent. Chicago has a lot more talent on paper, and I see RB Dorsey Levens gouging the Skins D for yards at a chunk pace. Levens will find pay dirt one time and help his bears stay undefeated. All be it just 2-0.
Bears roll 24 - 10.

Week 6 Game of the Week

vs

Video

Week 6 has the Jets and Cardinals facing off. This is the 2nd week in a row that we have had the game of the week in front of the fans in New Jersey. The Meadowlands played host to a great 23-20 nail biting overtime game for our week 5 match up of the week. This one will be no different. New York comes in at 3-1, and the Cardinals come in at 2-2. Both teams still in the middle of a cluster of playoff potential teams in the King Kong Conference. Every divisional game, every conference game is playoff like in their importance. Always want to hold the tie breaker especially against teams you only play once, as is this case here. I feel Arizona comes out strong and opens the game up with a nice touchdown drive that silences the Meadowlands crowd. I think discdolo's veteran leadership and savvy helps him through a tough first half, one that has a few turnovers in it. Discdolo will rally the troops in the 2nd half with a nice defensive stand early in the 3rd quarter to swing momentum to New York's side. RB Curtis Martin will have a monster game for the Jets going over 100 yards and tallying 2 touchdowns in a Jets win.
Jets take it 28 - 21.

Week 5 Game of the Week

vs

Week 5 we have a slobber knocker in the Meadowlands. These two teams usually always meet up in the regular season and again in the playoffs. Canes has come out on top in the playoffs(3-1) vs Eifer including a great 1991 superbowl victory. The two have split in the regular season at one game a piece. Teams are evenly matched. Great skill around both sides of the ball. Both have elite RBs. Both have elite LBs. Both have elite DBs. Both have elite QBs. Both are elite players. One must win however. I have a gut feeling, New York pulls this one out in front of the home field fans, but I will go ahead and pick myself. S Keith Lyle gets a crucial pick late in the game and New York RB Barry Sanders will go down in the 2nd quarter with a hamstring injury.
Oilers win 24-17.

Week 4 Game of the Week

vs

In Week 4 we might have the future conference championship early. Both teams are loaded, and these 2 could possibly be the best playing today. Opus is on fire, winning titles left and right. Lefty has got so many rings, he needs to put some on his toes. Elite tecmo at its finest. On paper, I feel the Lefty-led Chargers are the better team. This really means nothing as there is not a huge gap in talent. We all know one fumble or one stop could sway the momentum left or right. A true nail-biter in which San Diego wants to pay back the Dolphins for the throttling they took last post season. San Diego was thumped 35-3 at the hands of Miami. We all know the saying, paybacks a bleep. RB Eddie George will lead his Chargers to a victory tallying over 100 on the ground and picking up 2 scores in the process. Miami just won't have the fire power late, and QB Kordell Stewart being down late will have throw some prayers up, it will be caught up in heaven by S Darryl Williams as his interception will secure a much needed post season position win.
San Diego 28 - 14.

Week 3 Game of the Week

vs

Video

In this week 3 match up we have the 2 guys who will probably be the biggest thorn in the pre season favorite to win the division, the New England Patriots. Minnesota had one hell of an off-season moving, guys, drafting guys, signing guys. Basically they look nothing at all like the team FROM last season, especially since they moved one state over and now reside in the Twin Cities. New York has been the bridesmaid for the past few seasons in terms of the Patriots being the bride. Always 2nd fiddle, this is the Jets chance to shine. If they can't beat the Vikings, they won't beat the Patriots. My guess is RB Curtis Martin has an outstanding game and goes for over 100 and 2 scores. This will put too much pressure on Vikings QB Vinny Testaverde. Vinny will throw a pick and the before mentioned Martin punches it in to seal the game with 3 minutes to go in the game.
Jets win 21 - 10.

Week 2 Game of the Week

vs

Bad Moon Rison and Drza square off in this key divisional game for week 2. The early favorite will probably be the super powered Bengals to take this division, so these 2 squads need to set themselves up in good position to snag the last wild card birth. I see Raven QB Trent Dilfer being smart with the ball and not taking any chances with the stellar CB play for the Redskins. Sehorn and Buchanan will be licking their chops, but Dilfer comes through in the clutch with 2 TD tosses, and RB Raymont Harris finishes the Skins off in the 4th quarter.
Ravens win 24 - 14.

Week 1 Game of the Week

vs

Video

Lefty and Eifer slug it out and kick this season off with a bang. Both are favorites to reach the playoffs, but only one can win the division. Whoever wins this pivotal match up will be in the driver's seat FROM the get go FROM the Historic Division. Fresh faces to the rivalry. Barry Sanders and Levon Kirkland FROM the G-Men side, and John Elway FROM the Chargers. Should be an epic battle for sure. My take on it, is it will come down to a crucial turnover that San Diego will get. S Darryl Williams will be playing centerfield and snag a pass in coverage and be the difference maker in the game. I will start requesting the game of the week to send me the videos so people can watch the classic battles.
Chargers take it 28 - 21.

Free Agency is over and the Season will begin this Friday(10/30/09).  This should be the best season ever!  Good luck to all, except you Peterson.
