1992 PLAYOFF PUSH

KING KONG CONFERENCE

VINTAGE DIVISION

10-1 Mike hasn't clinched the division yet, but one more division win and he's wrapped it up.  Crucial week 12 game with the Patriots.  Currently hold the tiebreaker with the 2nd place Patriots with their week 4 win. Steve Young a possible MVP candidate.  Niners are in the playoffs and will get the #1 seed.
7-2 TSBGOD was a lot of people's favorite to win it all this year.  Although he is still 7-2 and has an outside shot at a division title, he might be flying under the radar.  Barry Sanders has done what Barry normally does, make defenses look silly and lead leagues in rushing.  Patriots haven't clinched a spot but look good for the #3 seed in my eyes.
4-4 Ed and his ground and pound combo of 2 50 MS Rbs have worked thus far.  The Dolphins have faired well versus inferior teams, but not so well against superior teams.  Though Miami's playoff chances are still alive, they have no shot at winning the division and it would take a late season Patriot collapse to see Miami dancing with the big boys come season's end.
4-6 New ownership hasn't stalled the Vikings chances of what they want to do.  This was a rebuilding 2-3 year process.  Perhaps ahead of schedule on their rebuilding, the Vikings and JT are looking good going into next season with quite a few draft picks and some serious playing experience under their belt.  Next season look for the Vikings possibly to contend for the division title.
2-8 Carmel took a sinking ship but has done a good job with it.  His season highlight is giving the lone loss to the #1 ranked team in the league the SF 49ers.  The team's downfall has come FROM the lack of production FROM the quarterback play, no thanks to the great QB Eagles.  The Black Hole will look good, possibly adding Drew Bledsoe or Jerome Bettis, whoever falls to the #2 draft slot next season.

TRADITIONAL DIVISION

6-2 Hock is sitting pretty at 6-2 and in full control of the Cowboys destiny.  A suprise to some, Dallas has reeled up some nice victories over some decent opponents.  Chris Chandler has put the team on his back and will lead the 'boys to the #2 seed I think.
7-4 A mid-season GM change has not effected the boys FROM Philly.  Lord has done an outstanding job after taking the reigns of this team.  He has done what many thought this team would.  Ride the horse Emmitt Smith.  I don't feel the Eagles have enough fuel in the tank to catch the division leading Cowboys, but they better not sputter as breathing down their neck are the Packers and Giants.  One game ahead of both I feel they have just enough to get the last and #4 seed in the King Kong Conference.
6-5 A late season surge by Sconnie has put the Pack in the thick of it.  Although they have split 2 games with the Giants in the season, I believe they have an easier schedule the rest of the way and hold the upper hand.  What hurts the Packs playoff hopes, is they have also split games with the currently 2nd place Eagles.  They need some help FROM others to knock Philly off if they want in the big dance.  Packers will be watching FROM home this postseason.
6-5 The defending conference champions and coach Eifer should have mixed feelings on this season.  Picked by many to at least make the playoffs and make another strong title push have stalled and the G Men see themselves close to not even making the playoffs.  Eifer needs a lot of help to jump over the Packers and Eagles.  I don't see it happening.  Giants will be planning off-season strategy when some are playing in the post-season.
0-9 Bopp has to be frustrated with this year.  Hasn't got into the win column yet.  I played him at least 20 times in the preseason and felt his style of play could be some trouble for this league with his team.  Guess I was wrong.  He does however have a positive outlook on what has been an ugly performance by his Falcons this year.  Statistically Tony Bennett has faired well for this team, racking up a lead league in sacks with 15. Can anyone say Jerome Bettis or Drew Bledsoe to the Atlanta Falcons with the #1 pick in next years draft?

GODZILLA CONFERENCE

HISTORIC DIVISION

5-2 Nos as usual is the leading man in the division.  No matter the talent Nostalgia always seems to be in the playoffs and top of every leagues charts.  CTL is no exception as I see Nos winning the division for the 3rd straight season and getting the #2 seed in the playoffs.
4-5 The Colts are a little disappointing to me this year.  Stacked for the most part on both sides of the ball; The Colts just haven't been able to put a real winning streak together.  Byoder needs to gather the troops and win out for a true shot at the playoffs.  If he can 8-5 will get him in the playoffs. Problem is the divisional opponents I feel will not allow it.  Thurman Thomas can only do so much.  Indy might want to look at the combine film, I see them being the odd team out for the last playoff spot.
3-4 Slig is in the same boat as the Lions.  No ground game has proven hard to overcome.  However the defense has been very stingy with a great core of LBs and DBs.  Kelsos ball hawking 75 int ability has kept quarterbacks in check and kept the Brownies in the playoff hunt.
3-5 Jshaw has done a real nice job with no ground game at all.  This up and coming team has a lot of good things going for this squad.  Herman Moore will mature into the great wide out we all knew he was.  The secondary will continue to progress and the Lions have some cap to go after any type of ground attack next  year.  The Lions will not make the playoffs.
2-8 TDO has done an impressive job with a less than stellar team.  2 wins is maybe 2 more than some would have thought.  Also been really close in some other matchups and with the cap room San Diego has and some nice draft picks for the future, The Lightning Bolts will be looking in good shape heading into next season.  The real question is can they get the #2 pick to get the leftovers FROM whoever Atlanta doesn't pick---Bledsoe or Bettis.

MEMORABLE DIVISION

8-1 Canes and the defending champs are sitting pretty and appear to be cruise control for the #1 seed in the playoffs again.  The Astrodome has proved to be a great home field advantage in the past for the Oilers.....can anyone dethrone the defending champs in their house?  Oilers will get the #1 seed.
7-4 The Bucs have been led by Superstar QB Brett Favre.  Kaberger and Tampa is looking solid and was atop the division for a good while.  If it wasn't for Steve Young's insane numbers, Favre hands down would win the Christian Okoye trophy for league MVP. They ran into a tough mid-season stretch but look like smooth sailing here on out. They are responsible for the lone blemish of the division leading and defending champions Oilers record.  I feel strong that the Bucs can secure the #3 seed in the playoffs.
5-4 Bigflu has done an impressive job with the mediocre team.  Rookie Corner Dale Carter has shown shades of brilliance and showed the league why he was such a high pick last off-season.  #34 will give the league headaches for seasons to come.  With 5 wins and 4 losses, the Steelers probably wont win the division, but I feel strongly that Flu can have a strong playoff push in crunch time and steal the #4 seed in the playoffs.
3-7 Jlstout and DB Hawk Audray McMillan have kept the Seahawks afloat.  They have a slim chance at making the playoffs, but they are fading fast and must win the rest of their games.  Especially since they are divisional games.  Division title is out of the question but can still win the last Wild Card spot.  Seattle better just plan for the draft next season.
2-8 AVG really doesn't have much on offense besides Warren Moon.  Heath Sherman is doing a real good job even with his 31 MS to get 5 yards a pop to at least keep the defense honest.  In the end it just is too difficult to overcome, especially if the Bengals trail early.  One things for sure their draft pick next season will be a sweet one.
