Super Bowl MVP Honors goes to Houston Defensive Lineman Clyde Simmons. Simmons recorded 3 Sacks, 1 which wasn't counted on the play of the game where he sacked New York QB Boomer Esiason and created a fumble with less than 2 minutes to go on the clock. Simmons harassed the G-Men signal caller all day, forcing some quick passes. Simmons was able to make up for the poor performance by the Houston Oilers offense. QB Troy Aikman continued his poor season performance and was picked off 3 times including a pick six returned for a touchdown for the 2nd straight playoff game. His counterpart QB Boomer Esiason was shut down. Boomer went 1 for 9 for 11 yards. His one completion however was a TD. On the flip side of the ball, Running Back Mark Higgs was his steady self racking up 60 yards on 8 carries on the ground. Held without a passing yard till 1 minute to go in the 3rd quarter the Giants Defense was strong enough to hold the lead deep into the fourth quarter. A crucial 4th and 7 call with the Oilers down 7 was made. Offset pitch down!!!!???? Umm ok, it worked. Oilers score to tie it up at 14 with 2 minutes left. 1:20 left on the clock the "Fumble" occurred and a few plays later Troy Aikman hit a wide open Rodney Hampton just licking his chops to get at his old team and score the game winning touchdown in Superbowl 91.
